WCDMA Indoor Coverage Solution |
 |
Sunwave, committed to providing cost-effective indoor coverage solutions, has more than 10 years¡¯ expertise and know-how in improving coverage in all indoor and outdoor environments, improving the coverage in thousands of sites including sub-urban industrial sites, tourist resorts, small towns, tunnels, airports, shopping centers, hotels, exhibition centers, subways, parking garages, sports stadiums and along highways.
An indispensable part of the modern mobile communications network Sunwave WCDMA line boosters are used in combinations with mini-base stations or repeaters to evenly and cost-effectively distribute the signals in-building. It can also set BTS access priorities to bring in outdoor macro BTS resources with sufficient capacity, avoiding frequent handover in high-rises. Besides, it plays an important role in converging 2G and 3G indoor coverage systems.
Indoor coverage comes first for 3G!
Multi-services environment on 3G networks
Video phone, conference, steam, online games, MMS, Email, internet¡
All these services require higher system capacity and QoS
Indoor subscribers tend to use these services--
in conformable office buildings and shopping malls¡
during waiting time in airports¡
70% of data traffic is generated indoors
2G & 3G Converged Indoor Coverage System
When rolling out a new 3G system, a basic principle is to reuse the existing site of 2G system. Depending on different level of reuse of existing 2G system, Sunwave¡¯s proposed 3 solutions for the 2G & 3G migration-- Co-location of 2G & 3G systems, backbone expansion, and new system implementation

3G Indoor Coverage Optimization Solutions
In 2G systems, a major indoor solution deployed in the network optimization stage are to expand the number of carriers, because of the high cost of the base band modem in comparison with the low RF cost.
However in 3G times£¬the cost for a single carrier has reduced remarkably as the base band modem technology evolves rapidly, while the RF cost accounts for a single carrier increasing dramatically. If following the 2G practice, the total cost will be high. For example, the RF part of a 2 carrier equipment costs much more than that of two single carrier equipment. Therefore, the solution to increase sectors outweighs in terms of cost.
Furthermore, increasing co-frequency sectors, rather than carriers, delivers better network quality. The frequency multiplex rate of 3G is larger than 1, handovers are mostly co-frequency between cells whereas inter-frequency handover causes hard handovers leading to drop calls.
Therefore, 3G indoor coverage optimization will be implemented mostly through increasing the number of sectors instead of expanding carriers.
